D’Angelo and Angie Stone’s Son SwayvoTwain Cast as Biggie in Snoop Dogg Biopic
Universal’s ‘Snoop’ adds a major piece of its hip-hop history narrative, pairing a rising recording artist with the role of the Notorious B.I.G.
Universal’s Snoop biopic has cast SwayvoTwain as the Notorious B.I.G., giving the upcoming film a striking connection to Black music history both on screen and behind the performance. The news was reported by Variety on September 9, 2026, with Bentley Green joining the cast as RBX and Los Angeles rapper G Perico set to play Big Reecie Cup, a figure from Snoop Dogg’s Long Beach roots.
SwayvoTwain, whose legal name is Michael D’Angelo Archer II, is the son of neo-soul icons D’Angelo and Angie Stone. The recording artist has released music under the SwayvoTwain name and previously appeared in projects connected to his family’s musical legacy, but the role marks his first major feature-film performance. Casting him as Christopher Wallace creates an intriguing generational link between one of hip-hop’s most influential families and one of rap’s most enduring on-screen origin stories.
The film is led by Jonathan Daviss as Snoop Dogg and directed by Craig Brewer, whose previous work includes Hustle & Flow. The announced ensemble also includes Myles Bullock as Dr. Dre, Camron Jones as Tupac Shakur, Algee Smith as Warren G, Tre Hale as Suge Knight, Corey Champagne as Nate Dogg, Olly Sholotan as Kurupt, Jonica Booth as the Lady of Rage, Laya DeLeon Hayes as Shante Broadus and Lauren London as Snoop’s mother, Beverly Tate.

Snoop Dogg is producing through Death Row Pictures alongside Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer, Allan Mandelbaum and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker. The studio has described the project as the definitive biopic of the rapper and entertainment mogul, and confirmed that it will incorporate music from Snoop’s catalog.
